2019 Camino Alto Cabernet Franc

The Camino Alto Vineyard is located in the Apple District just east of Placerville at 2,900 feet in elevation.  This Cabernet Franc fruit was planted in 1988.  The soils have a very rich red color from the dense volanic clay.   Although the Sierra  Foothills are known for high temperatures the cool mountain air from the nearby American River Canyon makes this site very unique for Cabernet Franc.
This was 40% wholecluster fermented with light punchdowns to bring out the freshness in the wine.  After fermentation it was aged in 100% Neutral French Oak barrel for 10 months before bottling.
