The Camino Alto Vineyard is located in the Apple District just east of Placerville at 2,900 feet in elevation. This Cabernet Franc fruit was planted in 1988. The soils have a very rich red color from the dense volcanic clay. Although the Sierra Foothills are known for high temperatures the cool mountain air from the nearby American River Canyon makes this site very unique for Cabernet Franc.
